Finance Data and Reporting Coordinator
Office of the Controller

Job Summary
As a Finance Data and Reporting Coordinator at the Office of the Controller, you will be an integral part of the team sustaining the financial operations of a $7B university system. You will support various reporting needs by creating, improving, and maintaining complex queries and reporting solutions that help the administration of the university and units efficiently manage their business operations. This position is eligible for hybrid or fully remote work arrangements.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand the operational data needs of the Office of the Controller and the work with unit leaders to prepare and document specialized queries involving numerous business and finance operational areas.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain numerous data solutions including business intelligence reports, Microsoft Access databases, and other ad-hoc datasets. This involves automating related manual processes, optimizing query design, and resolving macro errors.
  • Assist in developing business and finance related queries utilizing the university data warehouse and enterprise reporting tool Business Objects.
  • Participate in executing assignments to complete annual System Office goals that require accounting, technical, data analysis, and business expertise. These activities include serving on project teams; researching, reviewing, and documenting current processes; and developing, documenting, and implementing new processes.
  • Develop and complete data reports to meet financial reporting needs and fulfill State, University, and other fiduciary and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare routine and special reports issued by the office.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate's Degree equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor's Degree equals three (3) years

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience developing data queries.
2. Experience with reporting such as SQL.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • 1. Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • 2. Excellent relationship building skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of an effective administrative team to reach goals and make decisions.
  • 3. Expertise utilizing Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • 4. Ability to present complex financial data using detailed reports and charts.
  • 5. Ability to implement projects within timelines and budgets.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. Salary is commensurate with experience.
