Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to provide Academic Advising for current students, Transfer Advising for students transferring from local community colleges and universities, Admissions Advising for prospective students, and assist new and current students with financial aid. This position will also assist in the development of transfer pathways to facilitate the transfer process and implement programs to coordinate services relating to transfer (including workshops, tours, advising, etc.). Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist current and new students with course advisement, course selection, registration, and degree planning
  • Supports the achievement of enrollment goals by guiding prospective students, both individually and in group settings, regarding the transfer process
  • Assist in the creation and development of transfer pathways
  • Advise prospective students on the admissions process
  • Assist students in completing FAFSA, financial aid paperwork, scholarships, and financial aid appeals
  • Conduct campus tours and act as campus representative to the Idaho Falls community
  • Attend local community events and college, career, and transfer fairs
  • Co-instruct peer advising seminar class and supervise/train student peer advisors
  • Organize and participate in events like majors fairs, new student orientations, and other on-campus events
  • Other duties as assigned
This position will require local travel; and is located three (3) days a week at ISU-IF campus, and two (2) days a week at CEI campus. This position also requires a regular presence at community events, and travel to Pocatello campus. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with student populations
  • Strong organization ability and attention to detail
  • Basic computer literacy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in counseling, student development, student personnel, or related area
  • Academic Advising experience
  • Transfer advising experience
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of student developmental advising
  • Familiarity with programs such as peer advising
  • Experience in development and implementation of student-based programs
  • Experience in publication development and production
Additional Information
