The Student Success unit builds foundational information literacy skills for CSU students, improves university student success metrics by partnering to integrate library instruction into core curriculum courses, and supports programs that help students successfully transition to CSU. The unit collaborates and partners with other campus programs to provide library outreach and support for holistic student success.

Position Summary
The Head of Student Success provides strategic, flexible, and creative leadership for a team of librarians who build a foundation of information literacy to support undergraduate students throughout their academic journey. Guided by inclusive pedagogy and teaching effectiveness principles, the team uses methods and tools that prioritize active engagement, fosters cross-campus collaboration and partnerships, and supports students' overall academic success and well-being. With strong support from CSU Libraries administration, the Head of Student Success will help advance the integration of university goals and CSU's Principles of Community to support the CSU Libraries' strategic plan.
This position leads the unit in incorporating best practices and experimentation to support learning outcomes; implements sustainable, scalable instruction methods; and uses formal and informal assessment techniques to inform the team's work. Reporting to the Associate Dean for User Services & Assessment, the Head of Student Success collaborates with library leadership to connect unit initiatives with library strategic goals, celebrates unit successes, and communicates opportunities and challenges.
The Head of Student Success serves as an active member of the Library Leadership Advisory Group, contributing to library strategic planning and organizational development. This position is responsible for adapting staffing plans and priorities to meet changing needs and building and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues in the Libraries and across campus. This is a continuing faculty appointment.
