Posting Context Statement:
This position is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho and works with both the UI Extension Eastern District Director, faculty and staff as well as the Idaho Falls Research and Extension Center faculty and staff. The person selected will provide fiscal management support, administrative support and personnel management support for these individuals in collaboration with a part-time administrative assistant.
Position Overview:
Responsible for providing complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine and ad hoc financial reports.
Duties may include:
- Purchasing identified goods and services
- Submitting invoices and receipts for payment
- Accepting and recording payments
- Reconciling purchasing card statements
- Processing travel claims and reimbursements
- Tracking transactions through completion in the centralized financial system
- Filing and maintaining unit-level finance documents
- Originating personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized financial system
- Developing, compiling, and summarizing data for routine reports and ad hoc financial management reports
- Researching and correcting discrepancies or errors
- Providing assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions
- Researching, analyzing, and making recommendations for management decision making
- Serving as departmental grant administrator, assisting principal investigator with pre- and post-award financial activities. May participate in budget development and compilation and submission of proposals and project reports
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Three years providing financial processing support within an electronic finance system
- Using spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze, and report on financial data
- Interpreting and applying financial stewardship policies, procedures, rules and regulations
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Preferred:
- Over three years related work experience
- Knowledge of the Extension System, College of Agricultural & Life Sciences, the University of Idaho, the State of Idaho and Idaho agriculture
- Knowledge of office and computer hardware and software including spreadsheets, graphics and word processing to include familiarity with Banner, Windows, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of fiscal recordkeeping procedures
- Ability to maintain a high level of organization and the ability to make decisions based on a thorough understanding of the Center goals and priorities
- Experience preparing business correspondence; compiling information and developing reports and recommendations for management; planning, organizing and implementing special projects
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to effectively handle complaints or problems and deal with dissatisfied individuals; strong writing, editing and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and to handle sensitive and confidential material
