Job Summary
The Campus Camps program is content-driven experiences available both in-person and online. Camps are designed to inspire students to explore their unique interests. Camps draw upon the resources of the University of Utah to provide campers ages 6-17 with numerous hands-on learning opportunities in a fun, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
Our instructors are responsible for developing and facilitating week-long (half-day or full-day) summer camps across our Campus Camps program. They teach one or more camps throughout the summer, depending on their interest and availability. Typically, our instructors are interested in a specific STEM-related topic; however, we also offer camps like creative arts, cooking, outdoor recreation, and more!
Responsibilities
- Attend a pre-summer mandatory orientation.
 - Teach at least 1 full week of camp. Camps can be half day (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm) or full day (9am-3pm or 9am-4pm).
 - Work with Youth Education staff to create title, description and learning objectives for your camp.
 - Creating and teaching curriculum for assigned camps (with approval).
 - Classroom and behavior management.
 - Safety and welfare of students, a required Safety of Minors training will be provided.
 - Creating supply lists for each camp (when applicable).
 - Maintaining and keeping supplies/equipment in good condition (or alerting Youth Education of defective equipment).
 - Keeping the classroom and surrounding area(s) neat and clean.
 - Be familiar and follow through with Youth Education policies.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
- Proficiency in topic being taught.
 - Experience working with kids in a classroom setting.
 - Ability and desire to work in a temporary work-setting.
 - Demonstrate good character, integrity and adaptability.
 - Self-directed, punctual and highly organized.

Work Schedule Summary: An instructor would need to be available for at least 1 full week (M-F) over the dates of June 1st, 2026-August 7th, 2026. Their proposed camp can run either 9am-12pm, 1pm-4pm or a full day of 9am-4pm.
