Posting Context Statement:
The Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD) is an independent unit within the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. The CDHD is supported through a federal infrastructure grant with numerous projects funded through sponsored accounts. The CDHD improves the lives of people with disabilities and their families by educating a workforce, providing training and technical assistance within communities, conducting research, providing direct services, and disseminating evidence-based information.
Position Overview:

The ldahoSTARS Quality Child Care Consultant increases the quality of childcare in Idaho through coaching, mentoring and training childcare educators throughout the region. The Consultant partners with childcare educators to create recommended interventions using evidence-based best practices derived from peer-reviewed research and national professional guidelines and assessment criteria. The Consultant evaluates implementation results and guides childcare educators through reflective progress engagement and goal-focused outcome achievement. The Consultant also recruits and orients childcare educators for participation with the ldahoSTARS Professional Development and Recognition System (PDRS), the Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS), and the Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP).

Required Experience:
- Three years in the field of early care and education which could include
experience as a preschool teacher, childcare provider, childcare director, or
educator of young children in a childcare or elementary setting
educator of young children in a childcare or elementary setting
- Conducting adult workshops and/or providing training (small and large groups)
- Providing liaison with customer/provider groups
Required Education:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education,
Child Development, or a related field, with 30 or more college credits in ECE
Required Other:
- Requires travel between locations during the business day
- Ability to work nonstandard business hours, including weekends and holidays
Additional Preferred:
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education,
Child Development or any Bachelor Degree with at least 36 ECE related college
credits

- Understanding of and ability to coach adult learners to implement quality
practices
- Experience using assessment data to guide coaching conversations and develop individualized quality improvement plans
- Interpreting federal or state regulations/guidelines
Knowledge of
- Quality care
- Computer literate to include database experience
- Gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts
- Devising solutions to problems
- Familiarity with Pyramid Model/EC-PBIS practices and social-behavioral
supports, or willingness to complete Pyramid Model training within first 3-4
months - Understanding of early childhood family engagement practices and community
resources. - Interpreting federal or state regulations/guidelines
