The Audio Visual (AV) Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of audio/visual support for internal University events as well as externally-sponsored community events to include live sound, projection, video production (including recording and streaming), and other associated AV-related tasks. Other duties include digital media production and general event support in contribution to the overall goals of the Office of Marketing & Communications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
OVERSEE THE DESIGN AND DELIVERY OF SOUND, VIDEORECORDING, WEBCASTING, ETC. TO MEET USER DEMANDS
  • Design, develop, and improve systems that enable clients to easily access and operate audiovisual technologies in meetings and events.
  • Oversee and ensure the availability of the audio and visual resources as requested for on-campus meetings, special events, concerts, and conferences.
  • Manage, maintain, and provide training and support of the event space management and work order system.
  • Coordinate and provide hands-on and in-person video conference and audio/video resources to support event hosts.
  • Provide training and support for event clients, faculty, and staff in the knowledge and use of learning technologies, video conferencing, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Develop recommendations to enhance the university's classroom, meeting, and event space technologies.ASSIST IN EVENT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT, PARTICULARLY IN AREAS USING TECHNOLOGICAL RESOURCES
  • Meet with Campus Events Manager and event owner/lead to plan needed technologies to ensure event success.
  • Coordinate and operate all audio and/or video elements per live event.
  • Complete set-up of production equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and scenic equipment, as needed according to event outline.
  • Set-up event space by moving equipment (furniture, staging, linens, dance floors, and other AV equipment as necessary) to and from storage or production areas, delivery vehicles, etc. by hand, dollies, and/or other equipment.CREATE DIGITAL MEDIA IN SUPPORT OF COMMUNICATIONS-RELATED INITIATIVES; MANAGE PRODUCTION WITH EXTERNAL VENDORS
  • In coordination with Creative Services Manager, manage the University's videography projects, capturing video footage, editing footage, and producing digital media.
  • Assist in visually documenting University events where possible to incorporate within various communications outlets; process photos/videos to meet project goals.
  • In collaboration with various University departments and internal team members, coordinate University digital communications to produce engaging, accurate, and visually appealing content.DEVELOP SERVICES AND SOLUTIONS TO ADDRESS CAMPUS AUDIO/VISUAL NEEDS
  • Engage with consultants and service providers to specify, source, purchase, and install audiovisual technologies to meet user demands.
  • Share knowledge and insights with staff and faculty regarding trends and best practices in the use of audio/visual equipment.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and other institutional entities to develop strategic plans and recommendations for audiovisual technologies that align with institutional needs and goals.
  • Supervise Student Workers in the delivery of audiovisual support services.
  • Train and support faculty, staff, and volunteers in the operation and care of audiovisual resources.
  • Continuously grow technical knowledge and expertise in the delivery of audiovisual technologiesMANAGE THE ORGANIZATION AND DISBURSEMENT OF AUDIOVISUAL EQUIPMENT
  • Organize and maintain audiovisual storage areas.
  • Help develop and implement policies and guidelines for the transfer or loan of portable audiovisual technologies to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and keep accurate records of loans and transfers to include acquisition date, lifespan, replacement lifecycle, etc. to be used for equipment maintenance and replacement budget planning.
  • Maintain an appropriate backup inventory of audiovisual equipment to ensure venues can be supported when equipment fails.CREATE AND NUTURE A COOPERATIVE AND COLLABORATIVE ATMOSPHERE THAT EMPHASIZES CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPPORT
  • Establish consistent expectations with all customers following established service protocols and timelines for efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and task based on needs.
  • Proactively engage in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people.
  • Maintains "open door" to internal and external customers.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to work practices and offer viable solutions for implementation.
  • Actively work towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal customers.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:
    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
    Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution.(Degree may be substituted by 10 or more years of experience in sound, lighting, studio recording, or technical event management.) Two or more years of experience in sound, lighting, recording, event management, or communications. Strong computer skills including hardware and software. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in audio/visual technologies. Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal). Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Audio/visual or computer-related certifications or degrees that show continuing education. Experience in event planning/management and associated technologies. Experience supervising student workers or employees. Ability to work flexible hours - because the responsibilities of this position require attendance at various events and meetings, the daily schedule may vary and include nights and weekends.
