The Assistant Director of Human Resources assists the Chief Human Resources/Assistant Vice President - Human Resources (CHRO/AVP-HR) in planning, directing, and coordinating all functions of the Human Resources Department including employee and labor relations, discipline and performance management, staff development, and workforce communications. This position also assists in development, implementation, and interpretation of policies and programs that enable the university to reach its mission and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Serves as University Title IX Coordinator
  • Communicates with employees to inform and advise about confidential matters, policies, procedures, and regulations, and to provide training when necessary; acts as an information resource and representative of the Human Resources department to constituents across campus.
  • Assists with preparation of salary budgets and contracts for faculty and staff.
  • Assists the CHRO/AVP-HR with planning, leading, developing, coordinating, and implementing policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the university's human resources compliance and strategy needs
  • Work with the CHRO/AVP-HR to effectively resolve a wide range of workplace issues, effectively assess the situation and recommend appropriate resolution according to university's policies and practices
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management
  • Complies with all policies of the University.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need.
  • Foster a positive work environment
  • Actively works towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal faculty and staff.
  • Maintains "open door" policy.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements to work practices and offers viable solutions for implementation.
  • Proactively engages in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree is considered a plus
  • Seven to Ten years of HR related experience required; Three to Five years of higher education experience is considered a plus



LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:
  • HRCI/SHRM Certification is considered a plus
