Job Description:

The UF/IFAS Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is seeking a leader to provide the day-to-day management of EFNEP in Hillsborough County. EFNEP is a federally funded program that teaches income-constrained families how to prepare healthy meals on a budget and include more physical activities to reduce the risk of chronic disease. What is EFNEP

EFNEP is a nutrition education program for families with limited resources. EFNEP collaborates with community partners across to influence food and physical activity behaviors. Paraprofessional nutrition educators teach adult and youth participants how to stretch food dollars, prepare nutritious meals, and improve overall health following research-tested curricula.

The Opportunity

As the EFNEP Extension Program Manager (EPM) you will be joining a signature Extension program impacting thousands of Floridians each year. As the state's premier land-grant university, UF offers free educational programs through Extension to provide solutions for everyday problems facing Florida's families. As part of Extension, you will be joining a network that has served Floridians for over 100 years. You will lead a passionate team and be an ambassador for University of Florida, IFAS Extension, and EFNEP to local stakeholders.

In this role, you can expect to:
  • Provide supervision and leadership for the EFNEP team in Hillsborough County.
  • Promote the program locally and recruit teaching sites
  • Provide regular training and coaching to staff
  • Complete county plan(s) and monitor budgets(s)
  • Submit monthly reports to capture programming data and successes
  • Travel as necessary within the county and occasionally within the state of Florida for training

Expected Salary:

$50,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with EFNEP colleagues locally and throughout the state, as well as Extension colleagues and program partners. Demonstrate a courteous and helpful manner, and a respect and appreciation for diversity in all its forms.

Ability to maintain working files and revisions of documents. Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and able to quickly learn basics of new software. Ability to maximize digital tools for productivity, communication, and organization. A high degree of accuracy and timeliness in all work. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, dependability, and resourcefulness. Ability to maintain complete and organized records. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Strong personnel management experience desired. Ability to manage a diverse workforce and implement effective leadership strategies. Able to synthesize, communicate and enforce program policies and procedures. Superior ability to coach staff to success and to deliver engaging training.

Willingness and ability to travel independently.

Degree in human nutrition or closely related field, education, nonprofit management, business, sociology or public administration preferred. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/N), and/or Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD/N) helpful but not required. Experience with public health helpful.
