Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire part-time EMT Instructor positions. PURPSE OF POSITION:

This position is expected to provide high quality instruction aligning with: the mission, vision, and values of Clackamas Community College; the Part-time Faculty Bargaining Agreement; federal and state regulations; and program accreditation standards.
EMT program uses a cohort model forEMT-101/EMT102.Courses are in person at the Harmony Campus Fall-Spring.

The initial review of applications begins of July 23, 2024. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool. Applications in the reserve pool may be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled. Early applications are encouraged.

SALARY

Instructional range: $70.20 - $84.07
Non-Instructional range: $42.03

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Faculty in the EMS department are also responsible for ensuring professional accreditation, curricular revisions and developments, equipment/facility maintenance, as well as representing CCC's EMS program in collaboration with industry & professional organizations;
  • Department and Program orientation with shadowing is required prior to course assignment
    • Courses include: EMT-105; EMT-101; EMT-102 and cohorts run Fall-Spring


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities of the Part-Time Faculty include, but are not limited to:
  • Support students in developing requisite entry-level knowledge, skills, and competencies in skills lab, simulation, and/or clinical settings.
  • Employ strong classroom management skills, including independent clinical judgement, subject matter expertise, and interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advise, assist, and tutor students, and connect them with available resources to support their learning.
  • Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Support the college's mission, vision, and values.


Qualifications



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently licensed Oregon AEMT, EMT, or Oregon Paramedic, in good standing with OHA EMS and Trauma Systems program (OHA-EMS/TS)
  • Minimum three years' experience working at the EMT level in emergency medicine/prehospital care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor card or certificate of course completion that meets current American Heart Association ECC guidelines or equivalent standards approved by the Authority
  • Have successfully completed

    one
    of the following:
    • The National Association of EMS Educators Instructor Course; or
    • The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Instructor I course
    • At least 40 hours of the Instructor Development Program offered by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST)


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience with Competency-Based Assessment (CBA);
  • Prior experience with classroom management and simulation;
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish language preferred).


REQUIRED SCREENINGS AND IMMUNIZATIONS (upon hire):

  • Hepatitis B (Hep B) series with titer to confirm immunity;
  • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR);
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap);
  • Varicella;
  • COVID-19 (recommended);
  • Influenza (recommended);
  • Tuberculosis (TB) IGRA Blood test or chest x-ray;
  • After hire is complete, this position will need to complete a 10-panel urine drug screen and criminal background check, which will be coordinated by the department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other remote clinical setting as appropriate.

May be exposed to minimal chemical exposure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general direction of Director of Health Sciences.
