Job Description:

The Research Foundation (RF) Office of Compliance Services (OCS) is responsible for leading, managing, and championing corporate-wide initiatives designed to maintain, enhance, and promote a strong culture of compliance at the RF. We provide expertise and guidance across the RF and SUNY system in the areas of ethics, risk management, internal controls, and a wide array of programmatic areas.

FUNCTION & SCOPE:
We are seeking a creative and ambitious compliance professional with strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to support the implementation of the RF's board approved Compliance Program. The Compliance Specialist will interact with all levels of the RF and SUNY constituents and report to the Ethics & Compliance Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide daily support of initiatives supporting the implementation of the RF's Compliance Program;
Develop, deliver, and maintain training materials (including presentations, animated videos, and video and audio recordings), visual aids, documentation, and other content for new and ongoing compliance training programs and serve as primary support for compliance training and education projects and initiatives;
Lead the planning and organization for Compliance and Ethics Week annually, and other campaigns as scheduled;
Manage the policy administration process, including tracking reviews and revisions in progress, maintaining relevant documentation, providing guidance to functional policy owners and contacts regarding process, style, and content; and maintaining the RF's Policies, Procedures, and Forms webpages.
Assist with the overall maintenance of the RF's compliance management system and other electronic tools, and serve as the compliance team liaison with external vendors to support annual compliance certification and disclosure processes;
Maintain records pertaining to compliance, records management, conflict management, delegation of authority, and risk.
Assist in the implementation of OCS-led projects, including tracking and documenting issues while working with other stakeholders, to see projects to completion;
Monitor the OCS email account and assist or appropriately route inquiries;
Review conflict of interest disclosures as assigned, and recommend management plans as appropriate;
Monitor the daily operations and processes of the OCS to conduct statistical analysis, identify trends, and implement operational efficiencies and continuous improvement strategies;
Conduct research and provide analysis regarding current trends and best practices related to the elements of the compliance program, including policy development, implementation, and administration; training and education; ethics, corporate values, and professional responsibility; risk management and internal controls; and privacy related matters.
Draft compliance related communications and reports, and help maintain tools and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
Collect and analyze data on pertinent regulatory matters in order to help function owners stay informed of changes in pertinent federal and state regulations, and local laws;
Participate in compliance audits and assist with the monitoring of corporate activities and internal controls;
Provide support for the investigation of complaints, concerns, and Ethics Hotline cases;
Serve as a compliance team liaison to various corporate projects and initiatives as needed, including system-wide projects like the Research Compliance Discussion Groups and other compliance-related outreach, programs, and groups;
Perform other ad-hoc compliance and administrative functions to support the RF's strategic and operating plans as assigned by the Ethics & Compliance Manager.

Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree or 1-3 years of relevant experience, including technical, administrative, auditing, and/or compliance related experience; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
Project management skills and experience, as demonstrated in prior academic, volunteer, or professional experiences;
Experience delivering trainings or other live presentations and/or graphic design experience.
Proficient computer skills with specific experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or communications;
Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification held at time of hire or obtained within 1-2 years of employment; and
Experience using Prezi, Vyond, Canva, or other visual communication software.
General knowledge of ethics and compliance concepts, such as standards of conduct, business ethics, best practices, hotline management, and managing compliance related issues.

Compensation for this position:Thecompensation for this role is between $59,110-$70,694. Thepay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
