Position Summary:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Idaho seeks candidates for a full-time tenure track assistant professor or tenure track or tenured associate professor in the broad area of water-environment engineering. Exceptional candidates may be eligible for a tenured appointment. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in the college and department bylaws.
We seek candidates with teaching and research interests in emerging areas of environmental engineering and topics of significant societal importance. Candidates with expertise in areas such as waste treatment, contaminant fate and transport, environmental microbiology and biotechnology, wastewater-based epidemiology, resource recovery, bio-based energy systems, water supply and quality, environmental aspects of mining, floods and droughts, groundwater systems, or other areas of environmental engineering relevant to society are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty with expertise in water quality and treatment, wastewater treatment and resource recovery, and ecohydraulics. Water-related research is strong across the University of Idaho, including through its interdisciplinary Water Resources Graduate Program, which brings together faculty from multiple departments. These strengths provide ample opportunities for interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The candidate will advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students and is expected to develop a strong externally funded research program that supports graduate students and produces high-quality scholarly publications.
The successful candidate will teach traditional civil engineering water-environment courses and develop courses in their area of expertise.
We are committed to providing a high-quality education through teaching excellence and to fostering a productive, collaborative, and collegial environment where students, faculty, and staff can thrive.
