Position Information

The School of Business at the University of California, Riverside is a nationally-ranked and Internationally recognized AACSB-accredited business school. With over 14,000 alumni from all over the world, it is home to the largest undergraduate business program in the University of California system, as well as to the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, which features a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Ph.D., Professional MBA (PMBA), Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc), Master of Finance (MFin), and Master of Business Analytics (MSBA) programs. The school is positioned as a center of excellence in business education through cutting-edge research on the business challenges of the 21st century. The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant Dean of the graduate programs, and the director of the graduate student success unit supports the students from orientation to graduation and job search, helping the students navigate through the programs. The Director serves as an advisor to the Assistant Dean of the Graduate Programs in the areas of student services, academic advising, programming, career coaching, student employment, ranking, and curriculum updates. The Director of Graduate Students Success oversees the graduate programs including state and multiple self-supporting master programs and is responsible for any academic and career advising inquiries. The incumbent supervises the daily operations, administration, budget, and programming for the Graduate Student Success unit and works very closely with the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment unit. The Director will ensure a high quality of service, with a strong emphasis and commitment to the overall student experience throughout their academic programprogress to the job placement. Responsible for developing a comprehensive plan to create an efficient and effective process incorporating staff, technology, and networking. This position is responsible for success toward graduation and placement positively. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Vaccination Program Policy.

Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills; excellent ability to build collaborative and cooperative partnership across many varied constituents and stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni.

Key Responsibilities

Description
Manages student services programs.
  • Organizes, develops, documents, and implements best practices that are in compliance with UC policies and federal state, and local regulations. Actively participates in short- and long-term strategic planning. Responsible for overseeing the curriculum for all the programs. Manage programming that impacts the student's life while enrolled in the master's programs. Manage and develop plans for Enrollment Management and class scheduling. Responsible for all students' services from orientation to post graduation. Work closely with Admissions and Recruitment unit and other school and/or campus units that supports the student cycle.

Provides direction to professional student services advisors on the more complex issues encountered.
  • Manages campus and school's systems that are used to track student progress and programming that supports the unit (GradESS, Handshake, Target X, Service Now, Slate, and others)


Evaluates the effectiveness of the student services function, and makes changes to the program to provide better service to organizational management, faculty, and students.

Develops and oversees delivery of broad and complex career focused programs and events that incorporate the needs of organization and constituents. Develops and maintain relationships with local, reginal, national and international employers to identify and generate employment opportunities, internships, job shadowing and other professional development opportunities.

Analyze and interpret data on internship and full-time employment results. Assess and analyze employer business and personnel needs, and how the strengths, weaknesses, and skill sets of our graduate student populations match the current job market needs; provides feedback and recommendations to AGSM leadership, staff, and faculty.

Responsible for collecting and maintaining data related to enrollment, graduation, statistics, placements, including salary information. File annual reports with ranking organizations, such as US news. Tracking, analyzing and reporting of internships and statistics on current students.

Responsible for conducting research, data analysis and drafting proposals as needed for special projects to address college challenges including proposing changes to current service delivery models and to ensure meets graduate student enrollment needs and student service benchmarks to increase graduate retention and graduation rates. Process and manage the distribution of financial aid for graduate programs in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of the Graduate Programs and Associate Dean.

Plans, develops, and administers the student services budget for the organization.

Recognizes issues that have organization impact or future implications and advises employees accordingly.
  • Manage the student success unit and supervises, direct and coach the staff members. Provides guidance on complex issues or questions from students, faculty or leadership. Oversees the coordination of TA and Readers appointments. Monitors and Evaluate staff performance, delegate, assign and redistribute work as necessary.

Represents the student services unit to the organization community and relevant external constituencies.

Decides which resources will be committed to goals and objectives and how they will be allocated.

Makes decisions on performance, salary actions, hiring decisions and other human resources related issues of managed staff.
